Cape Fear Bird Observatory Migration Banding and Painted Bunting Research

March 11 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Evangelyn Buckland, co-founder and managing director of the Cape Fear Bird Observatory (CFBO), will be talking to us about the CFBO’s ongoing research on local State Park sites, including Painted Bunting research and Migration banding. She will also tell us about ongoing grant work, funded through NOAA’s National Estuarine Research Reserve System (NERRS) Science Collaborative. This project is aimed at developing a community around the Motus Wildlife Tracking System within NERRS to enhance research, education, and conservation efforts. This one-year initiative will include the creation of a webpage for data display, educational resources, in-person experiences, and construction of new Motus systems at key sites. We will learn all about the Motus network and how these projects and the long-term data from them are related.
We will meet in the auditorium at the Visitors Center.
